With the increasing competition including:the concentration of major customers to fewer system suppliers, the shorter development cycles and the stronger role of new suppliers from emerging markets， a future-proof profiling of the Saxon aerospace industry ought to be achieved within a short period of time. The Saxon aerospace industry met these requirements in April 2008 with the establishment of the joint initiative "ASIS - Aerospace Initiative Saxony". ASIS represents the interests of the aerospace industry in Saxony, with the aim of strengthening Saxony as an industrial site.
