AMOS is active on five continents in the design, development, manufacture and on-site installation of ground-based telescopes for professional astronomy. One of the company’s major achievements was the Auxiliary Telescope System, comprising four 1.8 m telescopes working in interferometric mode, on the Cerro Paranal site of the European Southern Observatory in Chile.Current AMOS projects in this field are typically in the 1- to 4-m range and extend from classical astronomical devices to solar, interferometric and wide- field systems. While producing most of its telescope optics in-house, AMOS also polishes mirrors and lens correctors for other companies.
